Citroën Jumpy 1.6 (90 HP) Error Codes P0192 and P0299 – Seeking Help

Unread post by Hodorious »

Hello everyone,

I own a Citroën Jumpy 1.6 (90 HP) and I've been experiencing some issues that have led to error codes P0192 and P0299. Here’s a quick rundown of my situation:

Symptoms:
The vehicle goes into limp mode when driving up steep hills.
I get the error code P0192, which indicates a low input from the fuel rail pressure sensor.
Sometimes, I also receive the error code P0299, indicating a turbocharger underboost condition.
I can resume driving after clearing the codes, but the problem returns when I encounter a heavy load, especially uphill.

Recent Maintenance:
I’ve already replaced the fuel filter in hopes of resolving the issue, but the problem persists.

Any suggestions?

I'll need your VIN to determine exactly which vehicle and engine management system you have as the codes have different meanings depending on the system. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Ok, so you have the DV6UTED4 with Bosch Engine Management System. Here are the fault descriptors to help with troubleshooting:

Fault Code: P0192
Description of Fault:
  • Fuel pressure signal: Short circuit to earth.
The fault occurs if the voltage of the fuel pressure signal is less than the minimum threshold of 0.2 V for 40 milliseconds or 2 engine revs
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Ignition on
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Stopping the engine
  • Deactivation of the reporting of faults associated with the high-pressure fuel injection common rail pressure
  • Limitation of pressure in the fuel high pressure common injection rail
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms:
  • Engine hesitating, cutting out
  • Lack of power
  • Starting problem
Suspect Areas:
  • Electrical harness
  • Connectors
  • Fuel high pressure sensor
  • Engine ECU

Fault Code: P0299
Description of Fault:
  • Turbocharger pressure signal: Pressure too low in relation to the reference value.
Difference negative for 5 seconds, between the turbo pressure reference and the measured turbo pressure: The pressure measured is lower than the reference, around 300 mbars for an engine speed above 2500 rpm.
  • Conditions of activation of the diagnostics:
  • Consult the associated contexts for the Pcode forwarding conditions:
  • In particle filter regeneration with engine speed above 1800 rpm
  • Not in particle filter regeneration with engine speed under 1500 rpm
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving for 5 min with several full load accelerations for 10 seconds
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Use of the flow calculated
  • Cutting of the EGR butterfly (turbo air cooler), EGR valve and bypass butterfly (inlet air heater) in all operating modes
  • Cutting of cruise control
  • Change to "easy move" torque invalid (Deactivation of automatic mode for the electronic parking brake)
Symptoms:
  • Lack of power
  • Noise
  • Smoke from the exhaust
Suspect Areas:
  • Air meter restricted
  • Clogged air filter
  • Obstacle obstructing the air passage
  • Air lock between compressor and engine
  • Turbocharging pressure sensor
  • Turbocharger position copy sensor
  • Vacuum problem
  • Variable geometry of the turbocharger jammed in the "minimum turbo" position
  • Faulty turbocharger

UPDATE:
Took my car to my local garage and they solved the P0192 by cleaning the pins on the sensor (they where very dirty).

However the car still doesnt pull like it used to, when in nuteral I cant get it over 3000rpm.
No error codes. What could be the couse?

You could do with looking at live data. The MAP pressure sensor could be bunged up with oil so its values are not changing much. On our C5 I occasionally got P0299 and found the sensor bunged up so put on a new one and it accelerates quicker. P0299 has since come back now and again though but does not put on the engine management light and it never did but I have not looked to see if it is bunged up again.

It's likely a protection mechanism, so revs are limited when idling / in neutral.

I see.
My issue now is the cars lacks of power. I drive the same 4km steep hill every day and earlier I was able to do about 95km/h uphill while now it peaks at around 80km/h and I have to use a lower gear than usual...
