C5 X7 Windscreen side pieces - remove and refit - how?

Unread post by steveclv »

I have picked up a couple of newish side pieces to replace my rusty ones on each side of the windscreen but for the life of me I cannot work out how to remove the old ones without breaking something :)
Is there a technique?
Thanks

Before you try I would buy some replacement clips as I would be very surprised if you didn't break any getting the old trims off. Also, by having the replacements you will see that they just 'pop' off with a plastic trim tool.
These are what I bought when I had my C5 (X7)

Thanks Sticky - it's 16 so looks like I might need some 81s before I tackle them. So they just pop off but I bet I break some :)
They were supplied off the donor car so I wasn't there to see how they did them. Shame as they are the only bits of rust on the entire car (2009)

The diagram above is out of date Steve, but the clips (81) have been replaced with part: 1622750180, £0.48 each (still available) and should always be replaced if replacing the mouldings (8).
