Fuel cut off switch

Unread post by Tat1959 »

Hi
I have just got a Citroën 2.5 relay 2001 camper which won't start. I have no power at the lift pump and I believe there is a fuel cut off switch. The hand book says it's under the bonnet, but there's no sign of it, I have checked under the dash at both sides and there's no sign of it there. Can anyone tell me where it is , if it even has one on the early diesels with the mechanical injection pump.
Thanks Stuart

It may be that the switch was not fitted at the factory. PSA deleted the inertia switch on some diesel engines because it was not mandatory under EU regulations.
Which engine and injection system does your camper have?

Is there even a lift pump fitted to this?
I wouldn’t have thought so, how many terminals are there on the sender unit? Note there may be 4 wires on the plug that connects to the sender but check how many terminals are actually on the sender unit.

3 wires to the sender is only enough for the gauge and warning light, so there is no in-tank pump.

There were versions with Citroen or Fiat engines. Maybe if you post photographs of the engine and pump, we can recognise what you are dealing with.

Whats the history? Was it running ok the last time it was started then would just not start? Or did it cut out whilst driving?
Will it fire with a burst of easy start?
If you slacken the injector pipes do you get fuel at the injectors? Tried pumping the hand primer?

The engine hasn't run while I have had it, it was bought as a project but was said engine and gearbox are good. 3 of the injecors were out and the fortth was so tight I didn't want to snap it. I have had the three injecors test and they were all fine. The engine is on the verge of starting but won't start. I have slacken te injecors off while a mate pumped the manual pump and had fuel coming out at each injjector. We then tightened them up again and tried to start it up using easy start while pumping fuel with the manual pump. This time it was just the same in that it was on the verge of starting but just not quite there.
