rumble

I have an elderly 2008 which, some years ago began to rattle/rumble from what I took to be the rear but which now seems to have settled in front offside position. Being ancient I dont do mny miles but it seems to be getting worse, I have taken it to three garages none of whom could identify it or its source though or they charged steeply for this service and "fixed" irrelevant things! Recent suggestion is the drive shafts and it does indeed seem worse at low speed/low acceleration and over town bumps. It virtually vanishes at higher speeds and on good road surfaces Any suggestions?
