A smallish amount of oil was lost via the driveshaft and the gear change has never been the smoothest so I would like to replace the entire gearbox oil. It’s a 1.6 BlueHDi 120 (07/14 - 10/18) 6 speed manual box, VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
From other info I’ve seen I think I’m OK with the process, empty via the drain plug and refill via air vent hole. What I’m unclear of is the quantity and oil type for my gearbox. My local go to car parts GSF says use “comma mvmtf plus 75w” which is Fully synthetic API GL4 but Halfords say use “Comma Gear Oil EP75W80 Plus” which is a Mineral API GL4. The confusing thing is that GSF says the Mineral oil one is not compatible for my car and Halfords says the Synthetic one isn’t compatible with my car.
Can anyone provide an answer to the correct oil and quantity please

Re: C4 GP 1.6 BlueHDi manual gearbox oil replacement
Halfords recommendation concurs with what I've heard and used when refilling my C5 X7's gearbox. I believe all the Blue Hdi's are the same with ribbed gearbox casings and that takes 1.9 litres.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

ESSO 75W80 EZL 848 or TOTAL 75W80 H6965.David I wrote: 23 Sep 2024, 18:55 Can anyone provide an answer to the correct oil and quantity please
Gearbox casing with fins = 1.9l after a drain and refill
Gearbox casing without fins = 2.6l after a drain and refill.

Re: C4 GP 1.6 BlueHDi manual gearbox oil replacement
Thanks Guys.
Neither of these seem to exist but I think I have found the Total equivalent Traxium Gear 8 75W-80
looks to have the same spec:
TotalEnergies TRANSMISSION H6965 75W-80
Specifications: API GL-4+, PSA B71 2330
TotalEnergies Traxium Gear 8 75W-80 Gear Oil
Specifications: API GL-4+, PSA B71 2330
Does this look correct?

75W-80 is the key, the rest is down to brand and price -
TOTAL TRANSMISSION HBVFE2 75W is the official one for your build date of 14470. It should meet PSA standards B71 2316
The ones you quoted above are for older vehicles with older gearbox types. I've just checked the latest document for your vehicle and this is the specification and standard you want.

Brilliant - Many Thanks - Just need to check the gearbox fins (or not) for quantity
