C3 Picasso brake light switch

Unread post by Stewart(oily) »

Following on from my earlier post about my power interruption in the C3 Picasso I have obtained a new brake light switch, my manual clearly shows the switch plunger contacting the brake lever, a bit of footwell mining reveals that my car has no switch in that location? anyone carried out this simple procedure?

You're probably forgetting that right hand drive cars use an extension bar from the passenger side, so the switch is on the other side.

That has occurred to me, the manual I have is extracts from the dealer manual in PDF form which is enormously useful but does assume familiarity with the vehicle, tomorrow the glove compartment is coming out, it has to be there somewhere.

Yes, it should be easy to see once you remove some of the trim.

And the switch is fitted, it is located low down in the passenger footwell and is accessed by removing the soft trim that is retained by three plastic rivet things, I got to use my new ebay trim tool (£1.49 for the set) The brake lights work normally, driving will reveal if the problem is resolved.

And the problem is resolved, the power interrruption has not occurred, the cruise control is working well, it revs to 4000 if required, anyone know how average speed cameras work ;)
Next job is to sort out the locking itself whenever the drivers door closes, and those bloody folding mirrors.
