Citroen Jumper III 2016 (Euro6) - Instrument panel and Airbag ECUs communication errors
Hello,
I'm starting this topic because I need help with some issues and error codes. My Citroen van is a BB furgon from 2016, chassis VIN number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
Especially need to sort out some weirdo things that showed up after scanning my "new" Jumper van with Diagbox 7.83 (and the same with 9.68 Free).
I'm using a Lexia interface full chip FW 921815C , recently purchased from this shop: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007009192418.html?
So, I have Instrument panel ECU communication trouble and Airbag ECU communication trouble. What can cause that?
As I mentioned in my first post, the van was converted into a camper and I suspect that some wiring may be affected.
First thing noticed - passenger seat belt tensioner and switch is disconnected from the yellow harness underneath but there are no warning lights on the instrument panel.
The second - although the engine has a few errors and check engine message on the display, the Check engine warning light is off.
I can say that it was forced OFF by someone to pass the inspections, the light doesn't come ON at ignition ON.
I need to check also the airbag light, as I said there is no indication of a fault with Airbags.
The instrument cluster is working fine, no signs of tampering on the other lights, but I will return with a picture of the panel at ignition ON maybe someone will observe anything odd.
Any suggestions for a starting point?

Are you using the Fiat adapter with diagbox?
If not you won’t get comms with all ECUs

No i don't. Thank you for your suggestion/confirmation, I was afraid that this is the case, the software asked for the switch on the adapter to be "in position B".

Re: Citroen Jumper III 2016 (Euro6) - Instrument panel and Airbag ECUs communication errors
What is the issue with the airbags then?
Its not uncommon if the van is being converted to a camper that the middle seat is removed. If a resistor is not used in place of the old seat belt pre tensioner it will cause an airbag fault .

Re: Citroen Jumper III 2016 (Euro6) - Instrument panel and Airbag ECUs communication errors
Thanks. The factory passenger seats are moved in the back behind a table and the front seats are rotating type, the one of the front passenger being exactly the same as driver seat. Noticed the yellow connector underneath - îs not being wired to the floor harness.
EDIT: I see the point of your question, airbag may be OK (the van has only one driver airbag) - the problem is with one seatbelt pretensioner, the front passenger's one is not connected. When I'll succeed to connect with Airbag ECU I will see what is missing/in error.

Waiting for the PSA S.1279 Interface to arrive, i bumped into this topic:
viewtopic.php?p=772678#p772678
I think I asked before - is there any source of information to find the original equipment of the van with the VIN number?
Without the adapter it appears to be two more modules that can't communicate. But i doubt that those modules are corect (such as Blind Spot Monitoring left and right)
viewtopic.php?p=772678#p772678
My campervan also has a dumb aftermarket 1 DIN unit (but I don't know what equipment was fitted at the factory, if any) - could it be possible to affect the dashboard warning lights? So for example, if your vehicle provides key messages via the head unit and you have an aftermarket system, then it won't be able to communicate issues to the driver. So you are on dodgy ground to start with

If you're asking what radio equipment you had from factory, then the answer is none! It only came with 4 speakers, but no radio.
Here's you build sheet from factory:

Great, thank you!
So, no Blind Spot Monitoring as expected:
TRAFFIC INFORMATION READER - WITHOUT LATERAL TRAJECTORY MONITORING
Another thing that i must check:
FRONT FOGLAMP - NO FRONT FOG LIGHTS
There are some Foglamps in the front bumper but I nerver found the ON/OFF button, it is not on the hazard switch panel.
They are aftermarket then.

Re: Citroen Jumper III 2016 (Euro6) - Instrument panel and Airbag ECUs communication errors
So just to clarify: Lateral trajectory monitoring is actually Lane Departure Warning System, not Blind Spot Monitoring.
Active Blind Spot Monitoring usually includes additional sensors in addition to the front & rear parking sensors, The Blind Spot system has an additional 4 sensors, 2 on the front and 2 at the rear usually on the wheel arches facing outwards to detect passing objects.
As for fogs, these are referred to as 'complimentary Headlight kit' and if factory fitted (which weren't from factory in your case) will be located here:

Got the adapter for Jumper III, put it on the Lexia interface and the results are the same! See picture.
One interesting fact, the SW version in the ECU is from 2017, the car is from 2016. I think someone did something in the past.

Re: Citroen Jumper III 2016 (Euro6) - Instrument panel and Airbag ECUs communication errors
Software version for what ECU?
It's not unusual for ECU software to be updated, like the BSI or the engine ECU to fix issues after the car was built. This can happen when it is dealer-serviced and you may not be aware.
Second, despite what the ad says on Aliexpress, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them regarding being a full-chip kit. I've seen it here before where people have bought from those places and they ended up with a cut down version with missing hardware on the boards. It may be that or a connection / pin issue, but I'd be returning it and getting one from a trusted source.

By ECU version i mean the engine ECU, DCM62_F
Regarding Lexia interface i hope you're wrong, the store has a high rating and the price was also above average, got it open and seems for me like the full chip version.

Most of the parts seem ok - except for the 10k Resistor that seems missing highlighted in yellow where it is supposed to be. This can affect CAN communication.
Although (3) seems present, (1) & (2) don't:

Re: Citroen Jumper III 2016 (Euro6) - Instrument panel and Airbag ECUs communication errors
Very good observations, much appreciated.
It is a chance the missing parts to be the cause. R1 R2 in last picture are from the USB part of the interface, though.
But the next step I see is to check the wiring to airbag ECU and dashboard instrument panel, it's strange that the rest of ECUs are responsive, I could check and clear errors, do some actuator tests, read live data etc.
It can be a protocol not correctly implemented in Lexia (firmware?) , i'm going to dig the forum for more info about versions.
I might need also some 'heavy tools' such as updated schematics (what I have is from Boxer III Euro 5) and an oscilloscope.
ANYWAY...
Luckily the engine runs verry well, it have a new EGR (the old one was leaking coolant and I found some intermittent errors in engine ECU memory) and the only error is the DPF (P242F 97), is broken by the last owner and needs to be changed.
But beside this there is an Airbag/seatbelt issue, and the associated lights (that somebody else turn off by brute force).
Regarding AdBlue system (that seems deleted) there are more to mention and perhaps I will open a new topic.
