Re: Peugeot 3008 rear and strange shock absorber
It's not listed separately by PSA, but it might be available as an aftermarket spare, or a polybush.

Re: Peugeot 3008 rear and strange shock absorber
In fact it seems both the rear struts and damper control are a complete set, as the dampers are not even listed separately and the whole system has a significant price tag:
(1) Damper Coupling Mechanism, part: 527295, £1491.38
A set listed here new and a 10% code listed too:

Re: Peugeot 3008 rear and strange shock absorber
Hi there, I’m new here.
I have just joined because an internet search found this thread when I was looking for shock absorber prices for my wife’s 2001 model 3008.
The car has been failed by the inspector for registration - MOT in your language! - and we were quoted $3750 Australian and a 3 and a half month wait for the parts to arrive in Australia!
Peugeots are not the most common car in this country and there are many repairers who refuse to touch them. Even finding parts can be tricky sometimes. The repairer who quoted this took nearly two weeks to find the parts, he said. I don’t know if he just kept forgetting about it or if he really did have difficulty finding the parts.
Do you people always get parts from a dealership? Genuine parts? Or do you use aftermarket parts?
Out of curiosity, I clicked on the eBay link in the previous post. The item is still listed and the price has gone down! It hasn’t gone down sufficiently for me to afford to purchase it, especially when I convert the price to Australian currency and I then have to pay for freight.
Any advice about parts suppliers who are willing to ship to Australia would be greatly appreciated. I have been told that Autodoc refuses to ship outside of Europe now.
Thanks for reading and for any help you can offer me.

Re: Peugeot 3008 rear and strange shock absorber
Welcome along. What issue have you actually got? I'm not sure what this system does, but it might be possible to convert to std shocks? Most people over here use aftermarket, dealer prices are usually daft. But you do need to avoid the cheapest, as these are usually junk, and electrical items are best OEM, but you can usually find them at significant discount to the dealer prices.

Re: Peugeot 3008 rear and strange shock absorber
Thanks for your prompt reply, Richard.
A very helpful diagnosis of, 'the shocks are stuffed and need replacing'! It's amazing how 'helpful' mechanics can be when they want to take you for a ride. She has owned the car for a year and we have driven quite a few kilometres in it, including a trip about a little under halfway across Australia. We even towed a small caravan on the way back. I think we'd notice if there was something so badly wrong with the shocks. At least, I hope I would.
I just re-read my first post. The 3008 is not a 2001 model, of course. It is a 2011 model. I have also done a quick calculation of how many kilometres we've driven in the year; it is well over 10,000.
We went to this mechanic on the recommendation of a friend. I can't see myself going back, but it isn't my car. Maybe my next stop should be a suspension specialist to find out what they say.
In my state of Australia, New South Wales (NSW), if a car fails the inspection, you get it re-inspected after you have had the necessary repairs done, and as long as you go back to the original inspection mechanic, you don't get charged a second fee. I think I'm prepared to pay a second fee to someone who knows what they're talking about!
As you mentioned electrical items, I'm going to ask you a question related to that topic. If I should ask it in a separate thread, please let me know.
One of my other Peugeots, a 1999 model 406 HDi, has an issue with the fan for the HVAC system in the cabin not working. I know how it got broken and by whom, but they don't want to take responsibility for their mistakes. I've been to numerous people trying to get it repaired, but the latest is that they need a wiring diagram. One of the dealerships was kind enough to email a copy of the relevant section for my car, but when I gave it to the repairer, he said it didn't have a 'key'. It was therefore useless to him unless he got a translator. I noticed the section for wiring diagrams, but I couldn't find my way around it as I tried to get the appropriate diagrams for my car. Is there a guide somewhere, or does someone specialise in locating things? Or possibly I'm just incompetent!

Re: Peugeot 3008 rear and strange shock absorber
Do you not get an official failure sheet? It looks like the system is a mechanical self contained roll control system, and this thread: https://www.peugeotforums.com/threads/3 ... il.228865/ suggests failure is common, but the system can be easily removed and replaced with std shocks. Has not come up on here as far as I know!
On the electrics, there's a thread here which explains the symbology for PSA wiring diagrams: viewtopic.php?p=782862#p782862
