Can my version of Lexia 3 firmware be upgraded to support newer vehicles?

Unread post by Morganator190 »

Hi all, so what i have here im pretty sure is a clone. Ive owned it for quite a while and use to use it a lot for a 2001 Citroen Saxo. I was pretty much able to do most thigs. However im so out of touch with were lexia 3 hardware has gone. Ive provided below as many clear photos as possible to help you hopefully identify if it is a clone, and if so based on its current hardware, can it be upgraded to support newer versions of diabox?

Unfortunately i cant remember the version of diabox i ran but it had to be ran on a windows XP laptop. In device manager of windows 10 it shows as a usb device but with no drivers assigned. When trying to find or install drivers for it im un successful

Im wanting to use it to connect to a UK Citroen DS3 2017 to enable some media interface features like enabling android auto or apple play. Scan and diagnose the car for its general health.

So hopefully if it can be upgraded and supported, what would be required and could someone explain to me how lexia 3, diabox works and can it be used on newer operating systems? Many Thanks .

First of all if a SMEG Head unit on the vehicle, it will need to be the SMEG IV+ system for CarPlay / AA to work and will need the correct firmware. Diagbox alone cannot enable it if the SMEG unit is the older version.

Regarding your VCI - they are all clones apart from the genuine ex-PSA units. The issue is whether you have a full-chip version or the cut down version.

From the looks of your board you have an older non Revision-C unit, that is missing key hardware like the optocouplers, so this likely will not cut it on later vehicles that will also require Version 9.** of Diagbox for this year. I haven't had time to check the other components as it takes to long to flick back and forwards with image hosting sites.

You can always upload images (preferred) to our site directly, using the Full Editor & Post button, then Attachments Tab, browse files from phone or PC and upload, then place where you want them withing your post.

Thanks very much for getting back to me. Ok I see, thought it would be a clone and yes I've had it quite a while. Was hoping there was a way to upgrade it. Also I've edited the original post so photos should be more accessible to view.

So for the missing components (optocouplers) I've don't bga repairs so if I was to add them in would it make the unit more compatible?

In regards to the stereo type. Sorry for my ignorance, how would I know if it's the older type or the newer type?

Also it seems impossible to obtain the rev c firmware files and how to flash them. There all stuck behind a pay wall forum.

Thanks

But that won't help without the hardware I suspect and there's usually a stack of other components and a replacement chip that need doing to make these compatible, and a lot of effort. Without a detailed examination, I see also on picture 12 (from the top) that the 10k resistor is missing too found on full-chip kits (see my post here) for an example.

Sorry about that, the site seems to use a cookie to personalise the search results.

If you click the search button on the site header and enter "Psa interface checker" into the Google search box (without the quotation marks), it should take you to the same results I got.
