Possible aternative gearboxes for Citroen CX Gti Turbo

Hi All,
Don't want to open a can of worms etc but just browsing to find if anyone else has got any experiences with swapping out the standard CX GTI Turbo box ? Already thinking of dropping in a DTR Turbo II box to stretch out the revs. Are there any other 6 speed boxes that have been used with the M25 block ? Citroen Relay vans appear to have a 6 speed but am presuming the ratios would all be much lower.

Could a engine and gear box be possible?
There seams to be very little out there in the way of information for anything
Are these cars not modified ?

Depends what work you can do yourself, if you have a known good gearbox..

T1 mods
You can drop in a Diesel T2 crown and pinion in yours.
T2 petrol Crown and pinion too will fit.

The limitations of sticking a T2 petrol or diesel gearbox straight in is the ignition set up and the thin sensors of the T1 needing a hole for the sensor to fit... drill a hole, but bear in mind it needs to be accurate as there isn't any timing adjustment available.

Soo top gear 1000 rpm
T1 petrol 25
T2 petrol 27
T2 diesel 29. Something.

Limitations on fitting another gearbox will be how it mounts.
5 speed CX resting on edge of the subframe and flush with the inner wheel arch, any protrusion will bollox stuff.

T1 is CX25 GTI Turbo 1 and T2 is... Turbo 2.

These things are that old now, if you open the box, you're going to have to likely rebuild it.
Try find a Turbo 2 diesel box, it's not blisteringly different to drive. I'd keep that as it is and buy a quicker car.
Just my observations after owning mine for 36 years tuning it to a inch of it's life.
Then experiencing 450hp Meganes S2000s and now my SL55.

Look up a gent called Stan Platts he generally has loads of CX stuff.
Should have the box you're looking for.
