Peugeot code woes

Unread post by MaDMaX68 »

Hi guys

I have not had any luck finding a member local to me willing to check my wife’s Peugeot, those that i have tried don think they can help

The engineer management light has come on again, my local dealer cannot book my car in for weeks, and advise if the light goes out they prob wont be able to see what the code is, but happy to charge me £80 for the pleasure,

So other than call out her breakdown company in the hope they have a diagnostic tool which we will try when she is home

Can anyone tell me what is the basic software/hardware i need to diagnose it myself ?

Its a 1017 Peugeot 2008, with the engine management light intermittently coming on,

Not going to be cheap if you want a proper code reader that will be able to go beyond basic OBDII codes. There are probably thousands of codes in use for all the systems and many of these are constructor-specific, so you would really need a professional level tool to get the full codes out.

For a one off, I really don't think it would be worth getting a 'Lexia Kit' and laptop, the ball ache of installing the software, plus understanding how to use it. According to one of the suppliers many of us use here, there is a newer diagnostic tool coming, but as yet we are unsure of date or pricing.

Thanks for the Heads up and spelling it out for me,
I already have a windows laptop, out of interest, how much would it cost getting the Lexia kit ?, and if its less than £100, I might just give it a go,
Not sure what else i can do, as the stealers is a no go, unless i can find someone else local to look at it,

Proper full chip ones (not the cut down versions which are useless on modern vehicles) are about £120-150 mark, but for a 2017 vehicle you will need Diagbox V9.** and depending on your supplier (they are all patched versions of the original software) you will need a laptop with virtualisation capabilities if running the VM Ware versions.

But our supplier is out of them as the Chinese cloners are apparently not making them now, so can't help you on that at present.
