Citroen C5-3 2.0 HDI 163hp DPF Regeneration

Unread post by bahcekapili »

Dear guys,

Sory if answered before i looked but could not find an exact answer. The car is at 360.000 km and runs perfect. Usually used at highways before. I track the car with FAP program. Once the active regeneration starts the weight of soot decreases to 0.00 but regeneration process goes on for about 30-40 km sometimes. (if i stop the car and wait for 5 minutes after weight of soot decreases to 0 g/l then last regeneration info drops to zero so as i see this situation i look for a suitable place to park the car and stop and wait for 5 minutes because if i don't do this exhaust gas temperature doesn't decrease) And usually the active regeneration was starting at 5.0 g/l but for about 1 year it starts sometimes at 3 g or 4 g. Another issue is when climbing a mountain (weight of soot is about 2 g) exhaust gas temperature reaches for about 400 degrees and passive regeneration starts but as soon as passive regeneration starts after 1 minute active regeneration starts although weight of soot is under 2 g.

Meanwhile cinder count is : % 29
Deposits in fap : 1 (service regeneration was made 1 year ago) In one year deposits in fap increased only 1 g

Do you think dpf is clogged too much so car is trying to cleaning dpf so frequently?

360k is a well past end of service life for a DPF, unless it has been changed in this time.

If your engine ECU has been told the DPF has been replaced when it has not been replaced, then many readings in your App won't be reliable as the data will be based on assumptions, not reality.
In such a case the DPG differential pressure sensors will be indicating the filter is blocked and trying to regenerate constantly until it flags the risk of clogging message.

Even a deep clean won't restore a filter to 100% efficiency pre-blockage as the tiny elements of Cerine will likely still remain in the filter that can't easily be removed by a clean. But it can restore the filter significantly to prolong the service life for a while longer.

So depends on the specific details and circumstances for your car.
