C5 X7 suspension won't rise, i've got fault codes

Unread post by OneRandomBX »

It randomly decided to not get up one day. The height selection interface appears normally when pressing the buttons and no errors appear on the dash, but the car doesn't rise and i don't hear the pump working. Here are the fault codes:

I hate to tell you this, but the most likely cause is that the 40A maxi fuse has been blown by LDS sludge building up in the pump motor. The motor has four brushes, and these generate (over time) carbon dust. When this mixes with LDS it forms a conductive sludge, and this causes an increase in amperage load, eventually blowing the fuse.

If you look on the Forum you will find guides on how to do this (I know, as I have this experience myself).

Yep, the 40A fuse is indeed blown. Next step is cleaning the pump i guess, it looks like an easy enough job for a careful amateur. Thank you for the helpful replies.

It is fairly easy, but time consuming. The most awkward bit is removing a couple of nuts in the wheel arch, as you have to work by feel. 5l brake cleaning fluid was enough for me to clean the motor thoroughly, and I used a Hornby track cleaning rubber to clean the copper commutator plates.
