2017 Peugeot Boxer - DiagBox can't auto identify

Unread post by MJP »

Hi all

I've got a 2017 Peugeot Boxer, with the 2.0 Euro 6 engine and DCM6.2 engine ECU.
I'm using DiagBox 9.68 running in a virtual machine.
The cable is a 'Lexua full chip' device sourced from AliExpress and I have the S.1279 adaptor that I have set the switch to position 'B' on.
When I start DiagBox I select Boxer 3 (Euro 6). It then scans, but fails to identify the vehicle and then I have to type in the VIN to proceed.
After that - it does work (although painfully slow, which I attribute to my laptop).

It's annoying to have to type in the VIN every time. Is this normal??

Thanks, Martin.

No, the VIN is usually auto-detected on a normal system, no need to select the model manually. There's obviously some communication issue - which may also have implications when diagnosing the vehicle.

This can be down to the interface quality itself (whether it is a full chip in reality - many Chinese sellers state this but often half the key components are missing), or a driver issue or the laptop itself and the status of the USB ports (especially in a VM environment).

Make sure your USB ports are not in power saving mode (advanced power management) and check that the are not set to go into sleep mode.

Recently i purchased, with the known risks of Ali express :) , a "full" chip Lexia Rev. C for maintenance in my 508 2.0. I opened it and i saw that all it was as described in the photo of the seller, you know, optocouplers e.t.c. Also the seller "advertise" the 9.91 ver. of Diagbox as the software to install. I've installed 3 versions of Diagbox under VM, 7.855- XP, a 9.91- Win7 and 9.129-Win 10. All of them were working and doing the global tests (i did't have any codes, just checking the interoperability) BUT when i changed the automatic gear box oil, ONLY the version of 7.855 did the reset of the wear counter of the gearbox ECU. I was trying with the other versions but they were stuck in "learning in progress" for many min. In my opinion, maybe another version of diagbox do the job as i also notice that the versions of the diagbox did the programming of flash to the VCI even i had flash it with the Interface checker. Also i had the laptop plugged in power, not to get in sleep mode and i suppose that you have the VCI connect under vm (upper left menu) and not the host (windows) and the key in key reader (if keyless) or with engine running e.t.c. Hope to solve the problem.

Yes the Diagbox software upgrades automatically perform the necessary firmware updates as required. You only need the interface check to install an earlier version of the firmware if required.
