Mixture Correction and O2 Sensor?

Unread post by tsmith149 »

I'm back on fault finding the cause of thick white unburnt fuel smoke during regen on my 2014 2.2 Boxer campervan.

Something I've noticed on the "air intake 2" page of diagbox is the following parameter:

"Status of the activation of the correction due to the oxygen sensor - Inactive"

This parameter is always inactive during normal driving and during regen. My question is what does this mean, is it normal to be inactive? Does it mean the ECU is not trimming fuel injection to achieve a proper mixture?

There are no fault codes logged.

I've also realised that the O2 sensor output is permanently stuck around about 0.98 (rich). The output of the the O2 sensor doesn't respond at all to throttle inputs, acceleration or lifting off the throttle. It doesn't even change when starting the engine. Does this sound normal? I'd expect to see a fair bit fluctuation during driving.

Cheers,

Hi Tom,

I have the same Problem/Questions now. Is there a chance that you figured it out yet?

The cables of my O2 Sensor were chewed up by a (marten?). After replacing, I had the same readings in diagbox like you.

I think by diesel engines the mixture should change between 1-1.4
But it stays at 0.987 in all situations.

My average regeneration intervall is 188 km. That's too often in my opinion. Maybe because the mixture is too rich. What's yours?

Thanks
Kai
