I bumped my head and when I came to, I had bought an ACTIVA!

Unread post by adamfog »

So.... I have just joined the Activa club! I have wanted one since I first sat in new one when I was 16, working at a local Citroen garage.

I found this one up in Donegal a few weeks ago and it would appear to be the last Activa in Ireland. (Republic of Ireland at least). It has been locked away, in a bit of a sorry state for at least 10 years and is a bit of a time capsule, with old tax discs, reciepts and the odd magazine from 2009 in it.

It will need a full respray but the interior will be perfect with a good clean. The engine and box and perfect too but there is a LHM leak of course.

I drove it over 170km / 100 miles yesterday, (with a couple of top ups). Despite a very wet rear subframe, the car performed unbelievably well for a car that has been lying up for so long. 8-)

The nostalgia is putting a huge smile on my face but we'll see how long that lasts when my mechanic gets his hands on it. [-o<

I'll put whatever progress hapens on here.

Please send luck.

And LHM.

And money.

I think I'll need plenty of all! :)

Not yet, so would only be guessing. Been a busy week so not been able to get to it yet. Somewhere at the centre of the rear subframe. Height corrector maybe?

Well done....

Regrding the leak, my bet will be the 4 way leak-back pipe connector that sits on top of the subframe....a bugger to get to.

Hint....join ACTIVACLUB.fr....who also do spare parts incld the 4-way leak back connector.

So.....after giving a good look over, we have a bit of a list to work on. So the searching for parts begins! If there are any of you lovely people that have any of these available, I'll be delighted to do a deal with you. :) :) :)

Try contacting citroenxm (Paul), who is a forum member, a few years ago he had a lot of Xantia parts he was wanting to shift.

Hi

Leak-back/off pipes (Front).... where are they leaking ?.......... I have a couple of spares if they cannot be resealed (the ones that attach to the struts)....NEVER use screw clips/only use the supplied Citron ones
Acc block leak...from where ?
Height Corrector...they can be rebuilt
High Pressure Pump, pipes seals normally....FIX it quick before the leak kills the alternator
...various leak back pipes.... easy fixes normally....let us know if they need replacing or its the push in connectors
Leak over the rear subframe.... 90% of the time it is the 4-way...Activa Club has a replacement block available
Rear Bump stops.... Not Available from Citroen now....for the Activa the Estate ones are a close replacement, see if you can find a pair of those....you DO need them.
Drivers side Rack boot, this can be a really hard one to do with the rack in the car, the stud to the power ram gets in the way.
Front brakes....rebuild kits available for the calipers.......OEM disks are best with OEM pads or good quality...... If you calipers are shot, I have some spare "Big" calipers if your car has the 288 disks fitted.
