citroen ds5 eco button

Unread post by Picklerick »

Hello, might be stupid question. I have 2012 citroen Ds5 2.0 hdi hybrid and there is button at steeringwheel that says eco. I thought it was for start stop, but there is no start stop, because every time i stop, the electric motor kicks in and diesel stops. So is this button for something else? Also i see ECO on guage, it shows how eco i am driving. IS this connected?

It's all in the manual - the switch on the Hybrid is to stop the diesel engine from switching off:
This function prevents the Diesel engine being switched off and so ensures that a comfortable temperature can be maintained in the passenger compartment (air conditioning running continuously).
On pressing the switch, the engine restarts immediately. To return to normal operation, press the switch again. After switching off the ignition, the vehicle will return to normal operation (lamp in the switch off).

During electric running and when the engine is stopped, the hybrid system manages restarting automatically to assure comfort levels in the passenger compartment *. However, variations in temperature may still
be felt in very hot climates. To avoid any discomfort in these conditions you can press the ECO OFF switch.
If you don't have a manual, use this link to download a copy from Citroen. Open the link, select your language before anything else (top right), then select model, then choose Hybrid and then from the drop down list, select the model year. This will open an online version. You can then download it as a PDF for off line reading.

I'd like to add this ECO Off button to my DS5 2.0 BlueHDi.
Mine's a facelift version and, unlike to previous model, PSA removed that phisical button in favour to touchscreen. So every time I want to temporarely turn off Stop&Start (ie 1-2 sec. cues), I need to press Drive button, than scroll down through various drive aid options on touchscreen and finally set S&S to Off. Would be much easier (and safer) via this button.

Now, I suppose the prefacelift (2011-2015) BSI is the same as the facelift one (2015-2018)? All I can read on mine is BSI2010.

There's an empty spot on the right set of buttons, next to AFIL button (warning for unintended lane crossing) where I'd like fo add this ECO Off button and wire it to appropriate pins on BSI.
The thing is, I don't know wich are those pins! Can someone help with obtaining the wiring diagram to those buttons?
I've got diagram for AFIL buttons, but sadely these 3 buttons on the left aren't covered there...
I intend to install this single button, run those two wires to BSI and set the phisical button as Present via Arduino tool and Vlud's software (at this point it marked as Absent).
Hope it might work...

Thanks everyone for their input and suggestions!

The BSIs are not the same. There were multiple versions for the pre-facelift model depending on equipment and engine, and these changed to a single BSI for the Mid-Life models.

I don't have wiring for the Mid-life models.

Thanks Marc!
Actually, I need wiring diagram for 2011-2015 prefacelift 2.0 HDi (PDC off, ESP off and S&S off button). So I could compare it on situ with my wires on facelift model. I expect PDC and ESP wires to go to the same pins on BSI and so I assume the ECO off would be the same as wll - at least I'd check it out...

Something like this for the right set of buttons (Auto dipped high beam and AFIL). That diagram was the same for pre and post facelift models...
