208 aftermarket touchscreen

Unread post by smeggy »

Hi all,

First post here - hope somebody can help!
I have a 2014 208 Gti with a SMEG touchscreen, which developed the dreaded 'continuous reboot' problem. I had been toying with the idea of upgrading to a Pioneer SPH-EVO62DAB-208 unit for a while, and decided to take this as the opportunity to finally do so. I have loosely fitted the Pioneer unit into my car, and it seems to be working well except for a couple of problems related to the parking sensors:

1. When I first open my car door after unlocking the vehicle, I get a warning signal on my instrument cluster stating there is a "parking assistance system fault". This happens generally each time the instrument cluser powers up (e.g. by opening a door, putting the key into the ignition etc). Despite this the rear parking sensors are working perfectly when driving.

2. The front parking sensors also work, but only if the vehicle has reverse gear engaged. Obviously this is not very helpful for sensors located on the front of the car!

I have followed Pioneer's wiring instructions (you can find these here: https://catalogs.pioneer-car.eu/Manuals ... on_manual/), and cannot see I have missed anything. Anybody got any experience with this model or an idea of what the issue might be?

Thanks a lot!

This is not something we can probably help you with as it's not an OEM system you have fitted and there is not guarantee it works with all the vehicle's options and systems. Your best bet is to contact Pioneer technical support.
