2015 Citroen C4 B7 Diagnostics

Post by DHallworth »

Evening all,

The wifes C4 has started moaning about an ABS/ESR fault and the hill assist feature has stopped working. It started as intermittent and would do it once every now and again but this week it’s become permanent.

Unfortunately my version of Diagbox doesn’t like talking to the C4. Is there a newer version that will run on the clone hardware and allow me to read the codes?

Thanks,
David.

What version of DB are you running David? You may just be on the cusp of reading it with a late V7.** version of the software.

According to the digits on the top right hand side of the screen, I’m running V07.15.

Have a look at the change logs I put up one the Wiki David - some of the later versions 7.6* go up to 2015:

Thanks Marc,

My interface is a very early one so am wondering if it’ll support the upgrade. Is there a reliable source of download these days? I need to go up incrementally rather then going straight to 7.6x too, don’t I?

Marc has a version checker that can let you know what version of the hardware you have. I have an Easy Diagnostics vB unit, and it will accept DiagBox V7.15, but not anything over that.

If it's an older revision B David, then yes you're probably stuck at the lower DB 7 version. I have the updates, but not advised if you think it's too early.

I think it probably is. I think I’ve had it since 2008ish.

I’ll pop to see a friend who has a Snap On machine with the C4 and get him to plug it in for me I think. Much less hassle :)

Just been and had a fiddle…

Version 7,15 will talk to the C4, however, the only 2 ECU’s it talks to are the ABS and the Module under the steering wheel.

Thankfully, it was the ABS I needed access to and it’s told me it doesn’t like the rear right ABS sensor!

Indeed!

Even better - managed to get a brand new, genuine Citroen ABS sensor on eBay for under 18 quid!

Getting a C1335 fault code on it as soon as the engine is started and the code suggests a short circuit on the sensor so should be too bad to sort hopefully! :D

That usually tends to be dirt in the plug connection or a loose pin / socket, which is not unexpected considering the torture these go through. But £18 isn't bad either.

Is this the same as the MK2 Picasso, with the on caliper electric handbrake? In which case it could well be the wiring disintegrating rather than the actual sensor itself...

No, it uses a separate control unit Richard with cables operating the calipers, so no on-caliper motors like the latest C4 Picasso.

Me again :)

I’ve bought a new Smeg IV2+ unit from eBay for the C4 to enable Apple Car Play.

I’ve managed to install it this evening, configured the VIN to stop the annoying been but I need to finish configuring it to get the buttons on the dashboard to work.

I think I’m going to need to upgrade my interface and Diagbox version as 7.15 won’t let me near it to configure it, it keeps failing.

Is there a reliable source for hardware these days?

Thanks,
David.
