Failed wing mirror DS5

Post by Lordnorfolk »

My Ds5 Hybrid,s offside mirror failes to fold, although you can here it trying, helping it doesn’t work.

Do you need to remove door panel to remove?

Thanks in advance.

Has it been forced in the opposite direction lately - either by an oncoming vehicle or by walking into it? This can cause it to lose synchronisation with the gear.

With the mirrors unfolded, manually push the offending mirror in, then use the locking and unlocking button on the for about 5-6 times to to try and re-engage it.

If it has been playing up for a while and labouring until it won't now operate, then the teeth on the gearing may be worn. There are no replacement internal parts available. So I suspect it is not electrical if you can hear the motor working - but likely to be worn gearing.
