RNEG versus Navidrive compatibility

Post by Dormouse »

Hi. I have the chance to acquire the complete gps C5 roof aerial, complete harness, FM1 and FM2 amplifiers from a RNEG type radio equiped car 2008 - 2016. Will any of these parts be compatible with my Navidrive equipped 2013 3008. thanks

Sounds like a downgrade to me - Why on earth would you want an RNEG if you have an NG4??

Apart from that the NG4 is likely to have the services module installed, so it is not a simple operation I'm afraid as a lot of the harness wiring goes to the services module and onto the NG4 for the autonomous geolocation and emergency call systems - that the RNEG doesn't use, so very awkward to trace locations as the harnesses and connections are different.

I cannot think of a single benefit of RNEG over NG4.

I am not downgrading - I want to know which of these components are compatible with the aerial system in my car. One of the faults that comes up is a faulty FM2 amplifier. I just want to know if any of the parts in the complete roof harness I am being offered are compatible with mine.

Ok, got you - that makes more sense - I'll need your VIN for the 2008 - pop it up here and I'll run a check for you.

Update - Just checked using some vehicles I have already and no - completely different modules for the different systems and aerial types.

No worries, they often can look the same, but the internals are often different depending on the telematics units and aerial configuration / combo.

Where are the Maxi Fuses 4 and 5 located? Are they susceptible to damp or dirt?
