Clio mk3 2009-1.5dci won't start, BRAKE FAULT on dash

Post by Ali_pudsey »

:(
Not driven for 2 days as driving fine before

Did start this morning with loads of bleeps and Brake fault message in dash, but had to turn it off to nip inside.
Back within 30 secs, but won't turn over, won't click....dash lights all come on and go off, except AbS, EML and the BRAKE FAULT message.

Brake fluid is full.
Fuses seem ok.

Just won't turn over, etc

FIXED- UPDATE ******

checked all fuse boxes for blown fuse and all relays for loose connection/corrosion, etc
Considering the car was parked for two days, working fine before i parked it up, I could nnt see a water ingress issue being the concern.
Turns out it was a corroded FUSE LINK (one of 4) that are fixed to the +positive battery terminal in a red plastic housing.
Made a temp solder joint across the corroded bit and PRESTO !!! no more "Braking fault" and it turns over AND IT STARTS !!!

Just ordered a replacement Battery Terminal Fuse Link part ...

These 4 battery terminal fuse links supply power to the cars main fuse boxes/bcm etc.. not surprised the vehicle was throwing up errors ( I suspect the blown link supplied the abs unit or a brake related element).

I did notice the bulbs in the headlamps did not work (although cluster lit up when I turned headlight switch , when I had the braking fault message ).
