how do you find your gearbox code and do all numbers have to match....
i think i need "20ts02" so do all digits have to match
2003 2.0l diesel xsara pic hdi manual 5 speed

You should match like for like, as the different boxes as fitted to different models throughout PSA range will have different gear ratios / final drive.

I don't think that 20 TS 02 info is correct at all.

For a 2.0 HDi Xsara Picasso with BE4/5 gearbox, it should be 20 DL 64 or 20 DL 65. There was no 20 TS 02 that I can see fitted to the Xsara Pciasso on any of the engines.

This is where you will find the identification:

The 'Type' & Serial No. is etched at (a) and there is also an identification label at (b)

thanks very much proxyparts has a list of citroens with corresponding manufacture year and gearbox code list thats where i got 20ts02 from
as its the only code that matches for 2003 2.oL diesel manual 5 xsara pic
all the other xpic years dont match or engine size dont match
20ts02 appears to have been fitted to petrol autotrans xpics so probly wont fit mine
there is no markings or plates at "a" or "b"
so how can i confirm what box i have/need thanks

Pop your VIN up so I can check your engine code. I already checked the petrol and diesels and none of them have that code you mentioned and I'm not surprised if you got it from one of these, as aftermarket parts databases are notoriously wrong.

Ok, but just be aware that ECP have a bad reputation with many here - wrong, faulty, DOA parts.

As for your Gearbox, for your DW10TD engine which is the 2.0 HDi 90, you will need either:

Serial No: 20 DL 64 Type: 5L Differential Diameter (mm): 84 Final Drive: 19 X 72

or

Serial No: 20 DL 65 Type: 5L Differential Diameter (mm): 84 Final Drive: 19 X 72

Both the above:

(1st) 13 X 38, (2nd) 15 X 28, (3rd) 32 X 37, (4th) 45 X 37, (5th) 47 X 31, (Reverse) 12 X 31 X 40, (Speedometer Drive Gear) 22 X 18.

also do i fill transmission oil into drain plug or what is correct procedure for filling oil
i took the drain out with car on the flat and nothing came out

UPDATE... i had removed level plug lol

on finding correct plug at bottom still only 50-100mm oil ( no bbs or debris tho) ???
so probably going to add 2000ml 75-80 manual trans oil fully synth see what happens
would a dry box sound similar to a shattered bearing ??

Ok, so the breather orifice (3) below can also be used for filling the gearbox.

(1) Drain plug.
(2) Filling and level plug.
(3) Breather.

Quantities:

Gearbox empty: 1.9 litres.
After draining: 1.8 litres.

filled box with 1700ml of 75-80 full synth.....noise gone ......car sorted for 30 quid ..unbelievable

No, that's not listed for this vehicle. Just the 20 DL 64 & 65 as I mentioned earlier.

Hi everyone. I'm a new member, I've just came across this forum in my endless search on internet...
I'm the proud owner of a Peugeot 207 1.6 petrol, 16v and my gearbox is losing oil (about 1 liter every 5-600 miles) and it's making a whining noise.
I have located the code on my gearbox, it's 20CQ27, but I can't find a gearbox with the same code here in the UK. Can anyone tell me a compatible gearbox with a different code, maybe I'm lucky and I can find something...
And if the VIN helps, mine is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
Please help...
