C4 reversing camera

Unread post by Exbt95 »

I have a dream which is proving a bit of a nightmare, that is to fit a reversing camera to my 2015 C4 Picasso.
I have a camera to fit the aperture in the tailgate and a clip on mirror/monitor, all I need to do is thread the wire from the tailgate to the front of the car! To do this I need to remove the lining from the tailgate, having removed 5 screws from either side the lining is loose on 3 sides but is fixed firmly up against the glass on the 4th.
My question is does anyone know how to remove the trim from the tailgate please. Mick.

Hi Mick - pop you VIN up so we have the correct version, then we might be able to advise.

A bit late, but here is my way: I have a look-a-like GoPro and this can be WiFi-ed to my smartphone. OK, so it needs to be left 'on' (inside the rear window) but it is cheap and quick. And when I go out on my bike I have the phone on a handlebar clip and the camera (on rear panier) pointing backwards, so I can see what's coming up behind. Works well, turning my head round is difficult.

Hi Marc,

I need to remove the tailgate lower trim panel of my C4 Grand Picasso to fit a replacement reversing camera. Would you be able to post up instructions like these for my vehicle?

Thanks Marc.

Apologies for the thread of questions:

I don’t have access to the bolt (1) in the first instruction (top left image). There’s a plastic panel above the rear window covering that area. Does that panel just pop off? Or are there further instructions on how to take that panel off?

Many thanks!

I managed to pop that panel off as it didn’t seem to have any screws or rivets when looking at the part image. Just clipped in. All good.

Just seen this, and I was going to say it just clips off using some trim removal tools, but you've sorted it now.

Hi Marc,

I ordered a replacement reverse camera for the make and model of my car. The cameras are identical in appearance. The only different is my old camera has a slightly different part code and has AVP on the part sticker, as opposed to AVR with the replacement camera.

OLD CAMERA - 9806794180 AVP (08.10.15)
REPLACEMENT CAMERA - 9801367780 AVR (21.03.14)

Would you know how if theres any major difference? I havn’t plugged it in to test it yet.

Many thanks,
Shane

Shane, you have listed a part for an incorrect item there.

1) Your old camera part (9806794180 ) is correct which is the actual camera for models with 4-Camera Panoramic Visual Assistance.
2) Part 9801367780 is not a camera it is the camera Harness and is not the correct one for your vehicle (this harness is incorrect as it does not support the panoramic system or camera you have).

Hi Marc,

That is really helpful and makes sense. The new camera wouldn’t slot into the receiver (harness as I think you put it), even though the receivers of both cameras look identical. Only difference is a small notch in on a different side, which won’t allow the wrong camera to be fitted. I’ll order in the correct one and see how I get on.

Many thanks,
Shane

Yes there are different harnesses and different cameras for different systems and are not interchangeable, so if replacing the camera just source the original camera part at 1).
