Lucas EPIC pump harness

Hi all,

i have just bought a great used engine from a Citroen Xantia to replace a dead one on my 406. its a diesel one with a Lucas EPIC pump, still great condition.

Problem is the pump harness that connects pump to loom, its got burnt wires i cant figure out the colours anymore, but i managed to separate and rewire, as i couldnt find pump harness, using some insulated wires though with no colour codes.

The pump has good wires, good insulation.

Anyone who knows engine XUD11BTE (P8C) with Lucas EPIC here to help with how i can link pin numbers (1-13) on the connector to the wires/colours on the pump.

Hi and welcome - you might just be in luck! This is from a 406 with the same engine:

1208 is the Diesel Injection Pump
1320 is the Injection ECU

Unfortunately the colours are not available for the wiring - but with this pin out you should be able to determine which wires go pin to pin.

Here are the pin designations:

1: multifunction motor ECU + battery F1 output
2: multifunction motor ECU F1 main relay output
3: multifunction motor ECU F21 main relay output
4: multifunction motor ECU F5-1 power relay output
5: multifunction motor ECU F5-2 power relay output
6: multifunction motor ECU F10-1 power relay output
7: multifunction motor ECU F10-2 power relay output
8: multifunction motor ECU F19 power relay output
9: multifunction motor ECU F20 power relay output
10: wire unknown
11: wire unknown
12: wire unknown
13: wire unknown

Thanks a lot, but sorry for late aknowledgements, i was aput on some holiday.

Seems we have done all we can the pump just doesnt start, im not that good with electrics so i invited some techinician to have a look.

i discovered when i bought the 406 as a non-runner the owner had removed and forgoten about the kepad.

so im looking for the keypad but the technician says the code is stored inside the pump, im surprised because pump seems to have no memory chip inside, at least according to diagrams here,

before i waste time looking for keypad, please advice if he is spot on, im only seeing memory chips on ECU and Keypad from the diagrams.

The electrovalve assembly is built into the pump as far as I can tell. It needs a tool putting on to drill out bolts before it can be accessed.

The code isn't stored inside the pump, it will the pump ecu. I've changed my pump on the 406 for one off a xantia and it went straight on. My 406 didn't have a keypad but the xantia did. You can still buy the loom. It comes with the plug, but they are 200 euros. When I recabled mine following a complete rebuild due to a poor tickover and leaks, I just used some 0.75mm flex for the normal control wires and slightly heavier duty wires for the stop solenoid. Take your time, do one wire at a time and use shrink tubing to insulate. If you need the workshop manual for the pump send me an email via the forum.

i figure all other wires have same colours except 4

the 4 on the pump are Brown/Yellow
; brown/red;
blue/white and
Red/white

then on my original loom is Orange (pin 13)
Pink (pin 12)
Green/yellow( pin 9)
Brown (pin 8)

please anyone with XUD11BTE help match these wires on this Lucas Epic pump
