The replacement head unit arrived today, having been coded prior to despatch, and I installed it immediately to find full radio service is restored!! So I can now confirm that the MK1 4 cable aerial can be replaced with the MK2 3 cable unit and both radio and sat nav work correctly. Don't know about the phone interface because it is not fitted to my car. However I hope that bit of info proves useful to other MK1 owners with aerial problems. I'm off to cruise the countryside and listen to the Cup Final!!

I don't mind if I do!! Never had a bad time in Wales!!
Regarding updating the maps if anyone has the 2010-11 map disc available for a loan or rent it might be handy!!
Just got to sort the passenger mixer flap and the headlight washer cover and I'll have a fully functional car!!
