Megane Mk I Heater/Air Fan not working

[New Member ~ first enquiry!] 2000-W'reg Megane 1.9 dTi RXE Saloon (1 previous owner), 251,400 miles:
Fan/Blower stopped working - 20A fuse had blown. Replaced the fuse - it blew as soon as fan switched on. Located & removed (the original) Fan Resistor (...under the passenger side wiper trim/fan box cover) - clearly rusty & suspect! Fan spun okay - not jammed. (Replaced air/pollen filter while at it.)
Ordered a correct Veleo replacement (arrived nicely boxed, identical to original, even complete with a new retaining screw!) - fitted/reconnected it and all tested/working Okay, before refitting the various trim & wiper arm etc... (even replaced air/pollen filter while at it.)
Took the car for a run & (...you guessed it!) - fan/blower not working!! But Fuse not blown ~ no nasty smells ~ ??. Question please: Is there perhaps another fuse of a Relay somewhere else I need to check... Or any other advice please? Cheers, Ron (07778 936488)
