Hello Everyone
I am new to the C5 crowd but not to Citroen as I own a bunch of them, guess one is never enough.... My recent acquisition is a MK1 2001 54000mile 3.0 v6 auto Exclusive. Has a full service history and actually very carefully used. She has a few scuff marks here and there but nothing out of the ordinary.
Just wanted to say hi and show my C5.

Thanks, yes our climate does help, we barely have rain here so zero rust, just paintwork that is in need of a cut and polish, but that will happen. I first started to clean by taking off the wheels, doing undercarriage and inderneath the engine (all the spots where grease grime and dust collects) must say in 17 years the dirt and grime that collected kept the undercarriage protected! We never have salt on our roads (or what is left of it in some cases) and that with very limited rainfall kept the car in a very preservable condition. Anycase
My pedantic cleaning created an issue for me.... I was a bit daring and took off the intake manifold and blocked the intake holes and covered it with vinyl masking tape. I then cleaned the top of the engine and well the while left side of engine bay to keep water away from the electrical box and battery. I left the car for a day to dry without starting and dried out the sparkplug holes. Proceeded to start the car and all seemed normal. After about 10 minutes a faint missing commenced. I thought well most likely bit of moisture in sparkplug holes. I took her for a drive to get to temperature, as I reversed the car started to miss alot and the engine light started to flash and the service light came on. The central display logged an "anti Pollution fault" I continued to drive her and the misfire stopped but the light is still on and the fault still logged. Drove her today, not skipped a beat, but engine light aswell as service light is on. and the logged fault still shows. I don't have a working lexia cable... Tried the battery disconnected route but light still on. guess I have to get a working cable now because to ask what could be wrong most likely is a silly question. From what I read it could be a coilpack or an exhaust temperature sensor?

Hi Corne (?). Yes, that's about the long and short of it - getting a Lexia cable really is the next step or repair your existing one - sometimes the pins in the plug can become de-soldered or loose - a little inspection there may pay off. The cables are widely available and cheap enough, but is essential really to get an accurate code and narrow the areas for the fault.
Also, retrace your steps to see if there is anything you didn't connect back up or a hose not secured or that has popped off - often this will be a likely cause of a fault that has recently occurred after some work in the engine bay.

You may find that the fault warning will clear itself after the engine has been run a few more times, assuming that the fault was temporary.

Well. It seems as if the fault is not temporary. It is still there. So. I looked around locally (in SA) to see if I can find a lexia cable. I was pleasantly surprised to find one. But the supplier suggested I try a PSA-COM unit which works with Bluetooth. He says it is easier to get to work than a lexia.
Well I took the chance. Hope to have it with me before the weekend. Let’s see if it works. It was about £85 which is the same that I would’ve paid for a chinese knockoff lexia. Id still like to get the proper UK supplied lexia cable. But if this unit can possibly help. Id be so glad.

Hi guys. Received my psa-com unit. Quick install and it actuallt worked!!
Had a multiple misfire code and misfire Cyl 6. Cleared the code and the engine light on dash went off. So glad it is sorted. All back to normal.

I must be honest. The system works very easy. It took about 10 minutes to install. I could check everything on my c5. I will take a few pictures of the process. Only thing I am annoyed about is that I can’t seem to log into the suspension unit to depressurise the system. But I will try again over weekend. I was able to check each individual function from opening a window , to check pressure of the brake servo once you press the brake pedal. For the price I paid it is actually doing more. Now I know the exact temperature of the gearbox oil for the flush which will be soon. It was done first time few 1000 miles ago and surprisingly the oil still had some transparency in it. Not at all black and burnt. Will report back soon.
