I've bought an aftermarket stereo to fit to my lounge so I can have DAB and bluetooth. However it appears as my car has a Phillips sound system fitted the harness adapter won't work, the cause is because my car has an amplifier fitted?
Does anyone know if there is a way of by passing the amp or can it be wired to work another way?
Kind regards Steve.

What’s your VIN? PM or post it so I can see exactly what you have.

Re: C4 Picasso lounge stereo swap
Ok, so you have the RD4 / MP3 system fitted.
A word of caution, these head units are more than just audio units, they interface with the vehicles systems and are used to change some options and configuration. Be aware that you will likely loose front and rear Parking Assistance as a result if you remove it and possibly the options to change some settings.
The head unit connects directly to the multifunction screen, so that will also affect some functionality.

Re: C4 Picasso lounge stereo swap
Ok, I just checked and you have the factory fitted amp installed. I know that there has been some issues fitting aftermarket stereos to vehicles equipped with this unit, apart from the adapters and wiring harness you would also need.
In this instance I would check with Citroen as to your options. I know the C4 Picasso did have options for the navigation telematic units - but they may be able to advise on compatibility and for keeping other options.
Have a look at this thread on C4 Owners - as you can see one chap went to an audio specialist to fit his unit and they couldn't get it to work because of the amp:

Thanks mark. A nightmare as the standard stereo is pretty crap.

Re: C4 Picasso lounge stereo swap
You also have an independent telematic unit fitted to the vehicle too so the BSI is coded for that option.
If you do enquire with Citroen, ask them if the RD45 unit (which they should know has built-in Bluetooth Audio Streaming and Bluetooth Hands Free phone support) is compatible with the vehicle if you were to source one. Tell them you appreciate it would need telecoding to the vehicle and some of the additional options programmed into the BSI (like USB, AUX input etc.) that this unit also has.
If so, then it would be much easier to fit this, as once coded with your VIN, you could just get this programmed with the additional parameters using Diagbox and that should be it. You already have the built in microphone fitted, so you can purchase teh USB / AUX sicket from here for £12 (Part number: 96645227ZD):

So you would need the AUX 3.5 cable and the USB cable to connect back into the RD45 unit.
Might be worth checking with them.....
