cant get reverse gear

56 plate Nissan Primastar

so over the last month or so reverse has been a bit stiff to engage, went our yesterday and I couldnt get it at all, all other gears are fine but thats no good when i need to reverse out of my parking space lol

so any ideas? im assuming as all the rest are ok the linkage is ok, maybe needing greased? not sure where i should be greasing.

any help appreciated

Can you select it with the engine off? If so, then likely the clutch is dragging....

Don't know details of this van - need to look on top / to the back of the gearbox to see if it is cables or linkages. Cables probably more difficult to lubricate and may need to be replaced.

just to update, i bought a set of gear cables and its resolved the issue
