David Evans, sub editor on Classic & Sports Car has died suddenly at the age of 56. Now, you might be thinking this is sod all to do with Autoshite, but David ran a GSA as his daily driver. While the magazine often focussed on the very top end of the market, David ensured that clubs were always represented. He found great joy in the smallest of reports, from the smallest of clubs. I've had many pleasant conversations with David over the years. He was a top bloke - a slightly square peg in the round hole of C&SC who somehow managed to keep working there for many years - I think it's about 13 years since I sent in my first club report (before I became a journo myself) on a 2CV run. He loved a photo Mrs DW had taken of some Dalmatians in a 2CV.



I'm quite stunned to be honest. He was such a nice chap. Only sent in another 2CVGB report a fortnight ago, just like old times. He will definitely be missed.

I assume not the same David Evans who once wrote the XM and later the C5 columns in the Citroenian...

Quite possibly although I was unaware of him having never read either publication, just passed it on as I am sure there will be interested and saddened parties on this forum.

As editor of the Citroenian, I can say for certain that it's definitely not David Evans who writes the C5 column. He is very much well and still writing his monthly column.
