Any one fitted after market tyre pressure sensors ? I'm tempted to fit some after tonights experience and just after some recommendations. Glad my 2 C5's have them.
Decided to take the Activa to visit my parents who live out in twisty road country side and i thought she seemed to be riding a little harder, but thought to my self i just must be too use to the C5's and the Activa does ride harder.
I get to a nice long corner i would normally take at 55/60mph and the car starts to really twitch and almost felt like it was just going to give up gripping the road, terrified i drive it like a C5 the rest of the way calling at the petrol station where there is free air just to check pressure. I normally do 35psi front and 33psi rear. Check the front 1 was 31psi other was 32psi not majorly down but still needed a top up of air. Then i get the the rear, one was 14psi other was 21 no wonder she was twitching, was hardly any air in. (Strangely they did not look flat at all , stronger sidewalls ?) Ride improved greatly and felt safe corning again. Was only 6 weeks ago i checked the pressures and they were fine, will just keep any eye on them more closely now , no idea why just the rears have dropped so much.

Really? "only" six weeks ago? Should be done weekly! I do mine every week, on both cars. Takes all of about 5 minutes with a proper, calibrated gauge.

Re: After market tyre pressure monitor?
There is a problem with tyre pressure gauges that no one in authority takes notice of, the accuracy of forecourt gauges is never checked and the accuracy of those sold in motor shops is very doubtful.
I was looking only this week at the labelling on some on offer in Wilko, in the small print it says "accurate to + or - 3 psi.", is that really close enough? Maybe ok for those of us who pootle around locally but for the tear-arses..........................
When I was running the garage the council weights and measures guy would occasionally, when testing the petrol pumps, bring with him a master gauge to test the tyre gauge on the forecourt but it was a very rare thing.

The forecourt gauges are pretty woeful for accuracy in my experience. I have one of these in my glovebox ;

It seems accurate when the local tyre place let me test it against their machine which is calibrated regularly.

Yes, same here. I check weekly without fail on all my vehicles with pneumatic tyres...
And I use my own trusted gauge.

Re: After market tyre pressure monitor?
I have a Steelmate ET-710AE set on my C5, mainly in case of a sudden puncture, but it does mean you don't have to religiously check pressures manually. It cost me £46 from eBay brand new despite it retailing at £100 on Amazon. I definitely rate this set, I fitted them mid September, and my pressures have only dropped from 36 down to 32 psi in that time, probably due to temperature changes more than anything, but it is nice to know that they have nearly the right amount in.
It's a clever system where you set a pressure you want, ie 36psi - and if the pressure goes more than 20% out of that spec, ie <29 or >43 psi then the unit that you leave plugged into the cigarette lighter socket starts to alarm (I think the tolerance is adjustable but not entirely sure). I'll take a video clip of it when I go out in the car later on if you'd find that useful?

Edit - this is very similar to my set:
