Hi my car is a 1982 Citroen GSA with 39,000 miles and I wanted to know how often the cambelt should be changed and if possible how easy is it to do please?
Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Hi Sorry can't tell you the service times for Cam-Belt changing but, typically most car manufacturers give mileage & time contraints, so even if you can has not achieved the mileage typically I would replace a belt at least once in 10 years -could be expensive if you don't.
I had a GS1220 in the early eighties and done a fair bit of work on the car, as you had to in those days.
This is just a rough memory of my experiences when owning a GS, and should not be taken as a complete instruction.
What I can remember to get to the belts, you have to remove the front upper panel, where the bonnet catch is, the grille, headlamps and the lower front valance where the bumper is mounted, so you end up looking at the front of the engine, the Picture below gives you a rough idea of what you will see. Then once you remove the cowling, and fan you have access to the belts.
If I remember correctly, best use a lot of thread free spay (Plusgas).
Just found this which seems realistic to me on http://car-parts.mister-auto.co.uk/en/t ... 07_ls523/ "It is very important to regularly check your timing belt parts. In general, you need to change the timing belt kit of your GS every five years or every 74.500 miles. To make sure, always check your owner's manufacturer manual as well."
