2004 scenic boot wont open

Looking foe help guidance divine intervention etc
The boot will not open on key fob oe push button i have checked switch for continuity and 12v across the lock gets it going i have also checked the wiring from body to tailgate but to no avail i had no rear fogs as well but ran a cable to a switch on the dash are these two problems related? everything else electrically is spot on . I am starting to tear my hair out as i need the boot working for my daughter going back to uni i have also tried a reset but nothing so any pointers?

I think you might have a blown fuse. A friend had an issue with his van in that, after trying to use the screen wash during cold conditions) both the washer and the boot would not work. It turned out they shared the fuse, and when he changed it they started working again.

double checked all the fuses thinking of taking a feed from the number plate lights to see if it will operate
