Removing condenser from C5 X7 and disable automatic lock

Unread post by osx »

Is there any way to disable the automatic door lock? Doors lock as soon as the car starts to move.

Also think that the condenser needs replacing. Regased aircon a week ago and no cool again.

Press and hold the central locking button near the radio for a few seconds ... you'll get a message that the auto locking is disabled/enabled

I won't, but for future reference, here's the page in the manual (depending on the year, it could be on a slightly different page, this is from 2008) ... :D :

Was lazy to go and get it from the garage but now I've got a searchable pdf version in my phone.

Sticky - have you ever replaced the condenser of the C5? Think I may need a new one.

vborovic - don't suppose you have a guide on how to replace the condender

I think I could pull something out of my magic hat.

Will this be of any use?

Thanks. I am sure that I've seen it done without removing the bumper though.

why struggle, bumper is quite easy to remove isn't it ?

(not done it on the X7 yet, but was OK on the facelift)

Define "easy" ... it will have to be done on my car due to repainting (at the dealer's), in a few weeks I'd say ... as for the procedure:

I've replaced the condensor on mine without removing either the bumper or the radiator. It's relatively easy - don't be afraid to slacken off other things in the area to make removal easier, and you may want some cardboard (or similar) to protect the radiator fins whilst moving things around.

That's what I remember from my previous C5 but can't recall the exact steps. Any special tools needed?

Not that I can recall - but it was 2 years ago that I did mine. The only extra things you should need are plasters for your knuckles and new 'O' rings for any disturbed air-con joints. Make sure you get 'O' rings suitable for use in air-con.
