oh and an issue with the rear wiper

Unread post by orinoco74 »

As explained I just bought a 54 plate Laguna Sport Tourer (estate) and it has the split rear tailgate where the window can be brought up separately from the rear tailgate if needed. When I go to use the rear wiper, nothing actually happens, it doesnt go round and hence doesn't wipe. oh but water does come out. Is there a fuse or a relay somewhere that I can check that controls the rear wiper motor? Ty in advance

Does the motor turn when you have the glass up, there is a locating hole for the wiper arm pin to locate in when shut, the arms tend to seize up and the motor won't move the arm. If it is seized you may get away with some penetrating fluid but beware if it is very badly seized the rear wiper is bonded to the glass and it can get pulled off and then water leaks in.

I think the wiper arm has seized. I have a replacement arm assembly but it doesn't move either, so will soak it in penetrating fluid for a good while. The wiper assembly has already come away from the glass so that ship has already sailed, I will glue it back with some rear view mirror bonding agent I think.

No the motor still does not turn when the window is up. I will test the voltage to the motor tonight.
