Renault gearboxes

Hi all i bought a second hand gear box from a scrap yard and have now found that the bell housing is different to the one on my car (2.0L rxe ) Is it possible to just change the housing over to fit it or is the gear box itself different?
Sorry i don't know much about engines but i don't want the garage ripping me off.

I think youlle find its not possible to swop the bellhousng on these..its an integral part of the two casings.. used to be able to on old fords...rwd and the like.. but Im afraid youlle need to change that box for a correct one.

Ok the garage has now had my car for 4 months trying to find the right gear box. [:(!]
the scrap yard keeps sending what they say is an 8v which is the one need but when the garage gets it the bell housing is wrong :S
Did Renault change the gear boxes half way through the R reg ?
I'm losing patience with the garage now [:(!]
