Hi all,
I'm the proud new owner of a tgd safari... (I've grown up imagining owning a safari so it's so cool to finally have one!) It's in amazing condition, but I do have a couple of concerns...
1) the steering pulls to the left. It self centres, and weights up nicely, but it feels like it's idea of 'centre' is just a bit off... Any ideas?
2) the ride while supple and correctly 'hydraulic', is uneven at motorway speeds... Could this be slightly unbalanced wheels/out of round tyres?
This also means that my cassis nacre dtr t2 will be coming up for sale. Let me know if you have any ideas about the questions or are interested in knowing more about the car in have for sale...

Re: Proud new owner....
wheels need to be checked first. they might need balancing or be buckled.

That's what I was thinking... Any suggestions of somewhere sympathetic (ideally in the midlands?)

Re: Proud new owner....
you should try changing the wheels over left to right (unless the tyres are directional) and see if anything changes with the pulling.
why?

Hi, you may need to get the steering centred, this can be done by adjusting the coupling at the bottom of the column inside the drivers wheel arch - it can be a pain to do and it only needs to be moved a tiny amount to have it pulling the other way.
Whereabouts are you based?

Re: Proud new owner....
Just had my steering centred as it was pulling to the left all the time. Unfortunately it went too far the other way and it thereafter pulled to the right! Sorted now though - evidently a really simple operation for somebody who knows what they're doing but I think it can be a bit trial and error to get it perfect.
I'm Birmingham based but have been working in Manchester, hence the brilliant Paul at Paris Autos doing the job. Wish either he or those Weston boys in Gloucestershire would move shop to Birmingham. Would save all the bloody mileage for me
Although I find it's worth the distance to get the job done properly by experts like them. Huge peace of mind when you're dealing with people who really know their stuff.
