Laguna 3 non-start...

Unread post by RussellF97 »

Hi All,

Laguna 3, 2.0 petrol, saloon

A friend of mine has just come out here on a visit to France and he's started having trouble with his Laguna not starting. He can get in, press the button and the engine cranks but doesn't fire. It got a bit embarrassing getting off the train at Calais, but after about a minute, it started fine. That's how it's been so far; fails to start, then starts after a short while.
He's tried the other card, he can hear the fuel pump running, it turns over but doesn't go straight away. The immobiliser light on the dash goes out and the management light is out.
Unfortunately he's about 65 miles away which is a bit far to go to have a look at it, so does anyone have any suggestions - other than a can of fuel and a box of Swan Vestas...? 8-)

Cheers,

Phil

Usually such problems are down to the crank and or cam sensor. Most cars need them to start, the engine starts then sensor suffers heat soak and fails. After a while they cool down and start working again. Eventually they totally fail. A decent diagnostic should give some clues.

Thanks very much for that, we'll get a diagnostics check done and see what comes up.
