New Car!

Unread post by jwalshe »

Greetings all - hope everyone is well!

Picked up my shiny 'new' 22 TRS at the weekend after much deliberating over a couple I had to choose from - both with extremely appealing qualities.

In the end I went for a very basic (non VIP interior) 1988 model. It is virtually perfect in every way (no rust and absolutely everything works on it, which is the first time for me!) but predictably for a car without a sunroof, the headlining is drooping a bit.

Does anyone know the best way of getting it to stick properly? Any tips of the trade so to speak? A special glue perhaps? :)

Thanks in advance,

James

I had a 22 TRS about 10 years ago now, I loved it.
Faster take of than a Auto Gti and not to bad on fuel.
Enjoy!

Threw a couple of photos up on Flickr - no doubt I'll be out and about with the camera a whole lot more!

Note the handle things you have to use to open the rear windows. Novelty!

That looks fantastic! First photo is very good.

We used to have an 89 22 TRS, in that almost silver/almost blue colour. Same wheel trims but it had the GTi like interior. A brilliant car.

I had considered that I might like one with the GTi interior as that's really nice. But the lightness of the interior on this one really appealed - plus the fact it has less to go wrong, it being the basic spec!

I didn't really like them way back in the 80's, the big car I liked and owned was a rover SD1 3.5 v8, but whereas they look old now, these look fantastic. So individual, thats wht I also love my C4. It's my taste in cars that have changed, and I think it's down to far too many euroboxes on the road that all look muck of a muchness.

North Birmingham - Erdington. She sits in the driveway under cover most of the week but it attracts a surprising amount of attention when I'm out and about. Got followed home by a Xantia driver the other day, which is a bit worrying!!!!

By the way... It'll be in Practical Classics next month. Follows my latest CX article in this months issue. Don't read it if you're a DS owner - you might not like what I wrote! ;-)

I lived in Erdington for years, off Goosemoor Lane. In Wednesbury now. Small world.
