Death of another Activa now double trouble

Unread post by holmedog »

   Sorry fellas but i have some bad news. Another Activa is bound for the big scrap yard in the sky. As of the 21/1.2013 my beloved Activa is scrap. After a snowy accident and a car sliding straight into the side of me she is awaiting the insurance engineer to exam her. I tried to get the bloke to not bother with insurance as there was relatively no damage to his car and i have just spent time and money sorting the heater matrix and other stuff.

I am thinking of buying it back to sell the bits off it. Was trying to find an add i saw a couple of months ago where someguy was selling an Activa for around £1995. So that i could show this to the insurance company but can't find it anywhere i think i either swa it on ebay or gumtree.

You might get a Cat C or D and then it can be reinstated.

Sorry to hear that Holmedog

I trust you're going to get another one...

Yes, do try to buy back salvage as there are many unique bits on an Activa that should not just be crushed.

Waiting for engineer to come out and survey the damage. It is bad though. Sill, both front and back door centre pillar and of course curtain airbag deploid. All that i would say not worth repairing. Even if jigged it wouldn't be as strong again.

If i do get to buy it back to strip i will let you all know what is available.

Nah mate! When you have a dream anything, and you get it and it lives up to expectations, losing it is going to hurt.

If it was not your fault, the other guys insurance will pay for the replacement activa. You should always have the opportunity of buying the car for scrap value.
why?

No, perfectly normal. I'd cry like a baby if anything happened to any of my cars, not least the Activa.

Oh dear. Sounds a bit too much damage fro a cat C/D
At least Activa are not too expensive to buy so you have a good chance to replace it. Just need to find one.
If you can keep the old one for salvage, strip it of Activa specifc parts and scrap the remaining by weighing it in, it may help mitigate the overall cost of the situation.

Good luck!

How much rust is on the chassis, how fast does it all have to go?

At the very least I would like a good Activa underbody harness between ECU box and front/rear electrovalves.
