I have a 2005 Renault Megane DCi which has been fine for the last 2 years but now (and just as I am thinking of changing) the car seems to have developed a number of electric problem that are intermittant.
I have come out to the car twice in the last week in the morning to the windows being down and now it has decided it wont lock any longer ???
Has anybody had a similar thing? or know if this is something that will have to be fixed at a main renault dealer?
Im looking at selling for a new car and this is obviously going to affect the price I get for the car if I dont get resolved.
Thanks

Re: Megane DCi electrical problems
The Meganes have a problem with water leaking into the door electrics. Renault offer a discount on the regulator assembly, but it still costs @ £200 per window to fix.
The last one i repaired, i sent the window electronics to a guy on ebay, they were repaired for about £25 each i think.
Prob woth checking the wiring inside the drivers door umbilical tube, as these fail on most cars, this could be your locking problem.

Re: Megane DCi electrical problems
Hi many thanks for your advice it is most appreciated.
I have now agreed a price with a dealer in Limmington on http://www.dealerbid.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who is aware of the problem and has reduced his price by £200 so I guess that isnt so bad and I dont have all the messing about to do. Just sods law these things happen when you want to sell and not after you have sold.
We did actually have the car on ebay but was worried about people coming back moaning.

Re: Megane DCi electrical problems
My brother's 1.5DCi estate failed its MOT as the rear number plate lights didn't work. QuikFit (!) changed the bulbs but made no difference. I checked and there was no voltage to the lamps. He took it to a Renault deaker who found (for £85 +VAT) that 4 wires had broken in the loom! Now how did that happen - since last year???
