Im currently stripping my Cx ready for its re-roof and respray and have investigated my heating system a bit more,
One of the control motors on the drivers side footwell has been left unplugged, when plugged in it moves ok but will not stop turning once it has turned its respective cog and therefore makes a clicking noise.
Any ides what this is? Im hoping just a relay or something simple!
Ill try and get a picture up tomorow!

Re: Clicking motor
Hi, the clicking is most probably due to the plastic gear being worn, when the flap for windscreen reaches its stop the motor is supposed to switch off. I have in the past been able to tighten the motor up against the gear curing the problem.

Re: Clicking motor
Thats what I initially thought, but the motor just keeps turning regardless, I even tried to hold it but it was still trying to move!

Re: Clicking motor
I may well be incorrect but I don't think there is any form of cut-off, I think that the motor is powered to the full extent that the flap will allow and is held there with power still applied to the motor. Not a great idea and one that ensures that any wear in the plastic meshing cogs results in endless motor turning and the annoying clicking.

Re: Clicking motor
As far as I remember the 'cure' was to improve the meshing of the cogs by either moving the half moon cog on the flap a bit to enable the motor to engage with less worn teeth at the end of travel, or to somehow modify the mounting of the motor to make it sit tighter to the flap. Hopefully someone will come along soon with a definitive cure.

Re: Clicking motor
Its a common Cx problem. The fix is to reduce the current to the motor, since there is no stop function. A current controller is easy to install in the switch for on the dashboard. There is a recipe somwhere on the net, but I have forgotten where
