What gearboxes would fit a 79 2400 pertol c-matic?
My solenoid is burnt out and I can not get a replacement, so I'll swap out the gearbox or gearbox and engine.
Any recommendations?

I have a spare solenoid I think. I am in Australia though.

Gearbox only 2500 Auto will fit, otherwise you need to change change bottom sump for manual.

Would a 2l petrol manual gearbox from a 1987 cx fit on a 2400 1979 cx? I can get a whole gearbox+engine+other parts to do a conversion to manual.
Just looking for a back up in case getting a spare solenoid fails .

Hi, if you were to fit a manual box you`d really need one from the 2.4 style engine. The later 2ltr gearbox won`t fit the 2.4 but one from a 2.5 would. Also if fitting a manual you need to think about flywheel/clutch, n/s driveshaft, pedal box and clutch cable.
