Kangoo automatic question

Wife wanted a Kangoo automatic!!!!!
Used with high miles 65k, FSH. Automatic box (same as 1.4 Clio auto????)
Automatic box seems very clunky and changes down when braking (at low speed).Is it a clunky automatic or do I have a problem. There doesnt appear to be a gearbox dipstick so I cant check the oil / level
Any comments appreciated
