Citroen C5 Where is the air con control module?

Post by Jackyboy44 »

Citroen C5 2.2hdi 2002 My climate control is working intermittently so I'm guessing the control module. Can anyone tell my how and where I get access to it. I don't have a service manual for this car and can't seem to find one. The Haynes manual does not cover the 2.2 HDI

What problems are you experiencing? Is it fan or heat/heat distribution related?

Sometimes when I switch to auto the air con light does not come on and and the windows mist up. If I operate everything manually the fan works etc. Problem started last week, then it was okay again until today

Sounds to me like a refridgerant issue, if you put a cars aircon system on and it mists up it usually means it needs a refridgerant recharge. Do you hear a click from under the bonnet when you press the AUTO button, this would be the compressor kicking in.

Up until today the air con was icey cold, but today when put on air con manually it didn't seem to get cold. However, when putting the demist on wich made the fans go full speed it cleared staight away.
One point I may not have made clear is, normally when switching onto auto, the auto and the air con light both come on. Now only the auto light comes on

Some climate control boxes also rely on feedback from the fan speed controller. In other words, if the fan speed module doesn't work the A/C pump won't be allowed to turn on.

If there is a marginal control module (as in, one that now only works on full blast or is "off") setting a car to automatic mode for the climate will frequently result in no A/C - and hence poor demisting.

It is in the footwell to the left of the clutch pedal, behind the centre console.

As the others have said, it is unlikely to be the module
Standard failure mode for that is fan failing to operate.

The fan works manually on all speeds, I assume there is only one fan?

Just a thought here, this problem only started after my car has been into the garage 3 times in the last week or so and they have been in and out of the glove compartment to link up for the fault codes. Could they have disturbed something

Unlikely they have disturbed anything to access the OBD port, its just a case of pulling off the access panel. You say only the AUTO light comes on when previously both the AUTO and aircon light came on, what type of control panel do you have? Mine is the same year/engine as yours and i only have an ECON or AUTO light that shows, no aircon light. :?

Just a quick silly question, its not because its too cold is it? 3 or less degrees the aircon is off even when on auto. Unless you manualy put it on or demist.
We have had those temps around here, but mine is now a facelif C5 so I don't have an aircon light to worry about.
