beeping on start up

my 06 scenic beeps 3 short beeps when i press the starter button everything is ok no lights come on or messages why is this what is it

It's to tell you the child locks are active

child lock switch on drivers door is always on red light showing and it has never beeped in 2 yrs till 2 days ago

Turn the child locks off, then on again. The beep should disappear.

can u tell me why its just started the locks are on and off to let peeps out so why has it just started

It happens when somebody pulls one of the rear handles at exactly the same time as the car is locked or unlocked. It seems to confuse the child locks and cause the beep. Very annoying for people if they don't know what it is!

Happens to ours if you switch the child locks off while the engine is running.

Also displays "Service" on the dash while it beeps.
