Xsara A/c fan probs.Help!

Hi,

I have a Xsara HDI 110hp sx and have just had a new condenser fitted and the system re-gassed.

The engineer thought that the fan was faulty as it dos'nt switch on when the a/c is turned on.If I run the car to get hot the fan cuts in 3/4 of the way on the temp guage.The aircon light comes on when pressed.

Any ideas guys.This is driving me nuts.

Does it only have one fan or two ?
When the fan(s) turn(s), is it slow or fast ?
Slow is quiet, hardly audible from inside the car while fast is outright noisy.

There is only one fan.
