Quite a special CX Prestige Turbo 2...

Unread post by Citroening »

Nicked from the CCC Forum but going up for auction is the ex-Erich Honecker's stretched Prestige Turbo 2.

Link.
Google Transalted description wrote:The sedan presented, extended wheelbase, single rear axle, was carried by the bodywork Tissier following an order on behalf of Citroën leader of East Germany from 1971 to 1989, Erich Honecker. Never delivered to his illustrious client because of the fall of the Berlin Wall in late 1989, the CX 25 Prestige Turbo 2 GTI was purchased by the current owner from an individual in 1995.
It has been no change since the acquisition. It features original ABS, manual transmission, air conditioning, power windows front and rear reading lamps and four aft. With 42 587 km on the clock, she is in good condition, dark gray body (recent painting) with roof and amounts dressed black vinyl, upholstery, carpets and trim gray. The headliner is relaxed and the lock glove box should be reviewed. The exhaust system was redesigned in November 2004 (invoice attached).
The car is accompanied by an invoice sent to the Citroen commercial service in Berlin responsible for the receipt dated November 2, 1989 and Consist of Mines approval.

25 000 - 45 000 €

Those seats look very vertical! And that tiny window looks a bit silly, shame.

Otherwise, thats quite a nice looking car 8-)

That's truly awful. The seats aren't even worth having in the stretched bit.
Pointless waste of time and Euros.

A 'normal' Prestige or for that matter a Safari is special enough and will have
superb handling and chassis - almost more of a hoot to blatt about with than
the sawnoff shotgun (or SWB) Cx saloon! ;)

The backwards facing middle row of seats are a joke and are only good for
the dwarf boot lickers if you're a Head of State or Captain of Industry but I
guess today, only handy for the bridesmaids.

And that infill panel on the B pillar? :puke: out-bad-taste's Andy Gray.

What is it about collectors appending these unsavoury historical figures to a car, in order to justify a silly price?

We have a person whose country killed those trying to leave, encouraged family members to spy on one another, kept huge numbers of people in poverty, destroyed large chunks of an historical city - yet the figurehead of this shambolic regime is apparently worthy enough a name that someone thinks it adds value to an ugly car?

In a word, disgraceful. Not just EH but the seller's patter as well.
