Picture of Xantia Mallard Green

Unread post by Diabolical »

I'm thinking of respraying my CX to what I think is Mallard Green.

I have seen a Xantia estate in my area a few times thats a luvly green I'm guessing thats what it is.

Can somebody out post a pic if they have a Mallard Green Cit?

Whereabouts are you located; it'd be easier to drive one around to you to
decide and get the paint code off the car!!! :D

The most common Xantia green is VERT VEGA NACRE with the code ERY.

A darker what I'd call Mallard green (as in the train not the bird)
is called VERT POSEIDON MET with the code ESY.

Later Xantia s2's have a green that IS NAMED THE SAME and looks identical
to the popular Vert Vega too with a code KQH.

What colour is the Cx at the moment!? Any story to it - model etc...

The darker colour is what I'm looking for and I'm sure it's Pearlescent.

I live in Bucks close to Aylesbury.

The CX is a GTi T2 in pearl Grey, that I thinks boring. Plus it needs a repaint before surface turns into something worse. Also I'm particurly fond of Green on cars. Iv'e only ever seen 1 Green CX from online pic was a very early S1.

Pictures of cars online are notorious for inaccuracies/inconsistencies
and the lighting/conditions the car was photographed etc but anyhow -

Vert Poseidon:

Vert Vega:

and Vert Vega KQH:

And one of the best CX colours - swordfish grey:

and this is a rarer green (again I don't know this code):

I'll see if I can dig out some pictures of my BRG green s1 GTi 2.4 for you.
Peal grey is OK but I agree it could be more interesting - suits the car that's
wearing the colour mind.

The only green Cx picture I have stored in my photobucket is this one that
appeared on ebay a few years back:

The Vert Poseidon is a lacquer metallic although I have no idea how you
confirm it's Pearlescent unless you get all techy and check out:

If you want one of the most beautiful greens then it has to be Dryade green. IIRC, it was only available for one year in 1979, and the code is AC 538.

It looks lovely in the flesh an IMO the best green to have, and what's even better is that it is actually a CX colour too! :) 8-)

I will have to dig a picture out for you!

If it's a Xantia estate colour then you could be looking at a colour called Greengauge which was only available on estates, I'd describe the colour as a very pearlescent mid green.

That "W" reg Xantia of unknown code is the exact same colour as my Sensation and I've always known it as Mallard green, it was quite common on Sensations and at one point I thought it was the only colour they came in as every one I seen was in it.

One of my first Xantiae was callled Emerald green in it's handbook maintenance book yet had the paintcode ERYCR so I'm not sure if
it's a transition from France to UK in the brochure etc? Xantiaman
Gareth may be able to shed some light on the minefield that is car
paintcodes and colour matching?

Another, very rare, colour for the CX in green is Vert Cali, which translates to cardamom green. The colour code that I have is rather long, but it's ERAbR - FQK

I only know of 2 CXs with this colour, and have only seen the one - at CXM Rally 2008 on a Prestige.

I think I'm right in saying that for the CX series 2 cars, there wasn't an option to have green as the colour. I'm trying to imagine a green on the whole car with the bumpers and I think it's going to be :x
I remember seeing a DTR T2 for sale once that had been sprayed that lovely Audi blue. But when on the CX it looked completely the opposite!

Obviously it's your car but if you wanted to add a twist to the silver perhaps go for Blue Romantique (a la CGOO - AC 661).
In some lights it appears silver, and in others it has the appearance of a faint blue.

But my rule of thumb for colours that look best is that :
S1 GTi Turbos = Silver
S2 GTi Turbos = Black

I'm no expert in colour, but I don't think a CX would suit that dark metallic Xantia green. Perhaps its just me.

Series 2 CXs are nice in Florentine Red. I remember the Audi blue CX that was for sale a while ago, it didn't really suit the car too well.
